چکیده

Purpose: According to research conducted in recent years, plant essential oils can be used as natural antimicrobial compounds to prevent the damage of chemical compounds; which in addition have other unique properties. The purpose of this research is to investigate and evaluate the chemical composition of Brazamble essential oil (BEO) with the scientific name Perovskia abrotanoides Karel and the antimicrobial property of this essential oil emulsion against some important bacteria in the food industry. Materials and methods: After preparing the essential oil from the flower of Perovskia abrotanoides Karel plant, its constituent compounds were identified using a gas chromatography device connected to a mass spectrometer (GC-MS). Then, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of BEO emulsion on bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila, Bacillus cereus, Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli O157:H7 by microdilution broth method was determined Results: among the chemical compounds identified in the essential oil of Perovskia abrotanoides Karel flower, Eucalyptol with 24.51%, camphor with 22.02% and alpha-pinene with 17.35% were the most effective compounds of this plant. According to the findings, Bacillus cereus bacteria showed the highest sensitivity to BEO emulsion by broth microdilution method. Conclusion: Due to its good antimicrobial properties, BEO emulsion can be used as a natural preservative in various products.
