چکیده

In recent years, interfacial solar steam generation (ISSG) has emerged as a promising technology for sustainable water purification and energy harvesting. Central to this process is the development of efficient photoabsorbers, which convert solar energy into heat to drive the steam generation process. This abstract provides an overview of recent advances in the development of various photoabsorbers incorporating nanomaterials, such as metals, metal oxides, and carbonaceous compounds, and their integration with diverse substrates, including wood, wood sponge, and pine cone. Our research group has made significant contributions to this field over the past five years, with a particular focus on optimizing the performance of these photoabsorbers for enhanced solar-to-vapor efficiency. We have explored the synthesis and characterization of nanostructured materials that offer superior light absorption, thermal management, and water transport properties. Specifically, our work has demonstrated the potential of natural and sustainable substrates like wood and pine cone, which not only support the nanomaterials but also contribute to the overall efficiency and scalability of ISSG systems. This presentation will highlight our key findings, including the development of hybrid systems combining metallic and carbon-based nanomaterials, as well as novel strategies for enhancing the stability and durability of the photoabsorbers in real-world conditions. Our results underscore the importance of material selection and substrate integration in the design of high-performance ISSG systems and provide a roadmap for future research and application in this rapidly evolving field.
