Abstract

This study investigates the performance enhancement of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) utilizing titanium dioxide/reduced graphene oxide (TiO₂/rGO) nanocomposite photoanodes compared to pure TiO₂ nanoparticles. Nanocomposites with 0.5%, 1% and 1.5 % weight percentages of rGO were synthesized and characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and incident photon-to-current efficiency (IPCE) measurements. Results confirm that incorporating rGO significantly improves the energy conversion efficiency (η) and short-circuit current density (Jₛc). The optimal performance was achieved with a TiO₂/1.5 wt% rGO composite, yielding an efficiency of 1.8% and a Jₛc of 0.60 mA/cm². This enhancement is attributed to improved electron transport and suppressed charge recombination facilitated by rGO.
