Solar energy is a cornerstone of renewable energy globally, and solar cells are the most widely used medium for this energy. Solar panel surfaces in arid and desert regions face a significant challenge due to the accumulation of dust, dirt, and bird droppings, which significantly decreases their efficiency. This study aims to investigate the impact of cleaning on performance improvement by comparing a solar cell that undergoes a remotely controlled periodic mechanical cleaning process with one that is left without any surface treatment (no cleaning). This is achieved by analyzing operational data for both models under identical environmental conditions. This study highlights the impact of mechanical cleaning on improving photovoltaic conversion efficiency and performance stability, as well as the economic feasibility of this process. Through this research paper, we aim to provide a scientific perspective that informs design and manufacturing decisions for projects to be implemented, particularly in dusty and arid regions such as Iraq.
