Content-aware image resizing, commonly known as seam carving, has practical applications in image editing and retargeting. However, beyond its utility, seam carving provides a unique opportunity for teaching and understanding dynamic programming concepts. In this paper, we explore the pedagogical value of seam carving as a problem domain for introducing the Viterbi algorithm. By drawing parallels between seam carving and the Viterbi algorithm, we enhance students\\\' comprehension of dynamic programming principles. We discuss the process of seam carving, and its relationship to the Viterbi algorithm. Through example and visualizations, we demonstrate how seam carving can serve as an intuitive teaching tool, fostering better understanding of Viterbi algorithm.
