Abstract
This paper focuses on enhancing the reliability of distribution systems by considering customer preferences. It is demonstrated that taking into account customer choices in improving distribution reliability leads to competition. In order to model such a scenario where customers in a network have conflicting interests, a game theory approach is employed. Two game theory-based models are analysed in a case study. The models make use of the Cournot game (CG) model and the supply function equilibrium (SFE) to demonstrate how customers may compete on reliability when they participate in the reliability provision model by DSO. The results show both models can elaborately explain customers’ behaviour in a market for reliability while there are differences between the two models.
