Abstract
the insects belonging to the family of tabanidae known as horse flies are at larval stage as aquatic or semiaquatic and predaceous. during 2001-2003 a faunistic survey on horse flies of north parts of Khorasan province was caried out. as a result, 8 species are recorded, of which 3 are new for the khorasan province. this brings the total number of horse flies recorded from the province of khorasan to 17. clearly, more species are to be expected after more intensively collecting.
