Abstract
Conodont faunas from Tournaisian sequences in the Tabas area of eastern Iran and the uppermost 30 m of the Khoshyeilagh Formation in its type section (Bozorgnia 1973; Brice et al. 1978; Ashouri 1994) in the eastern Alborz of northeastern Iran have produced 27 species and subspecies of Polygnathus, Bispathodus, Pseudopolygnathus, Protognathodus, Siphonodella, Gnathodus, Doliognathus, Scaliognathus and Dollymae. A new species, Pseudopolygnathus shotorensis, based on material from the Late typicus and anchoralis–latus conodont zones of the Shotori Range of the Tabas area, is also reported from the Khoshyeilagh Formation. Anchoralis–latus and texanus conodont zones have been discriminated at Howz-e-Dorah and in the Ozback-Kuh.
