Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa) a saple food for millions of people in the world, suffers great losses from the blast disease, caused by fungal pathogen Magnaporthe grisea Cav. ( anamorph Pyricularia grisea (Cooke) Sacc.). Yield losses due to blast disease can reach 90 percentin the fields. and affect severely the nutrition and income of local populations in regions where rice constitutes a staple food. The pathogen can infect rice plants at any growth stagefrom seedling through grain formation, and causes leaf blast collar rot, .......
