This resistance is one of the major problems to fight against infection diseases and is a key for a successful treatment. An alarming increase in resistance of bacteria to current antibiotics encourage scientist to search for new anti-bacterial compounds and renewed effort be made to seek antibacterial agent effective against pathogenic bacteria resistant Although some venom and its isolated compounds have been shown to inhibit growth of pathogenic bacterial and can be an important source of antibacterial agent but have not been investigated as it should be for their antimicrobial activity. Echis carinatus is one of the most venomous snakes in the world and has effective haemostatic venom that destroys endothelial cells and causes heamorragia. In this study the antibacterial effect of this snake venom against four different bacteria including: Staphylococcos aurues, Bacillus subtilis, Salmonella typhimurium and E.coli O157.H7 has been investigated. Prior to this phase, the potency of the venom evaluated by its LD50, this has been done by IP injection of different concentration (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 and 15 mg/kg) of venom to mouse. The result showed that LD50 of this venom is about 4mg/kg. For main part of the research we use three different concentrations (100, 200 and 300µg/ml) of this venom and also different standard antibiotic disk via gel diffusion. There is no antibacterial effect has been observed against these bacteria. The research still continues with some other bacteria.
