Abstract

The histological structure of different parts of the atrioventricular region of 5 female turkeys cardiac conducting system was studied. The results were compared with the available data on the birds, human and other species. The atrioventricular node was present in the heart of turkeys. The cells of the ventral and anterior parts of the node were darker than the dorsal one. The internodal pathways were not observed. At the point of about middle part and at the apex of the interventricular septum, the atrioventricular bundle was entered into the septum. In addition to mentioned structures, there were atrioventricular ring (purkinje ring), nodus truncobulbaris and fasciculus truncobulbaris in the heart of turkeys. The purkinje ring, nodus truncobulbaris and fasciculus truncobulbaris only are present in the heart of turkey and some birds. They are not present in human and other species. The atrioventricular node is observed in the heart of turkey, but it is not definable in the heart of some birds.
