In the current study, the role of nano size SiO2 on thermal and mechanical properties of PU foam was studied. For this purpose compression samples of PU foams consist of different weight percents of SiO2 nano particles were produced. Compression test was done using an universal tensile plant at 1.2 mm/min cross head speed. In order to indicate the role of SiO2 nano particles on the cells morphology, microscopic evaluation was done. Thermal behaviour changes of samples due to secondary phases were evaluated using Thermogravimetry analysis (TGA) test. The results of compression test showed that addition of SiO2 nano particles made an increase in the maximum tolerable load before failure. SEM micrographs showed that nano particles caused an increase in the number of cells and a decrease in the cell size simultaneously. The results of TGA test confirmed that the sample containing 10% nano particles has the best performance.
