Abstract

Here, we propose a hybrid metaheuristic algorithm based on genetic algorithm and variable neighborhood search for solving uncapacitated facility location problem which is one of the most important problem in the combinatorial optimization problems. In the proposed hybrid algorithm, we increase the probability of the employment of heuristic procedure (variable neighborhood search) gradually. Experimental results show that in large scale problems, the proposed algorithm is more efficient than the recently proposed genetic algorithm on uncapacitated facility location problem
