Abstract This study examines external users’ perception about the importance of information resources. Different information resources include annual reports, oral information, published daily share price, communication with managers, tips and rumors, stockbrokers’ advice and finally advice of friends and acquaintances. In addition to mentioned items, the importance of another five annual reports which include balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, footnotes, and auditor’s report will also examine. This study examined the importance of above mentioned information resources from four different user-group’s viewpoint including investors, academics, auditors and financial analysts. Research findings shows that users have similar idea about the importance of annual reports, oral information, published daily share price, and tips and rumors but not in other parts. Meanwhile, annual reports and advice of friends and acquaintances are the most and least important factors in terms of decision making respectively. Furthermore, the users have similar idea about the importance of balance sheet, income statement and footnotes in which income statement is the most important factor in decision making. Totally, income statement and balance sheet are prioritized as the most important reports.
