Abstract

Turbulent mixed convection heat transfer of a nanofluid consisting of water and Al2O3 (dp =28 nm) in the a horizontal curved tube has been studied numerically. Fully elliptic governing equation has been used. Two phase mixture model has been implemented to study such a flow field, effects of the buoyancy force and nanoparticles concentration have been presented and discussed. The computed result of convective flow and heat transfer at low volume fraction show good agreement with previous experimental and numerical data. The nanoparticle volume fraction does not have direct effect on the secondary flow, skin fraction coefficient. However its effects on the thermal parameters are significant.
