Ca2Co2O5 nanoparticles were synthesized by a modified sol-gel method.The characterization of the prepared powders was performed usingX-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and UV-Vis spectroscopy techniques.Metal nitrate precursors were used as starting materials andgelation was used as a polymerization agent. XRD patterns show that the single phase of perovskite orthorhombic structure of Ca2Co2O5 isformed at 700oC calcination temperature. With increasing the temperature,secondary phases is appeared. The average size of the particlescalcined at 700oC is about 70 nm. The value of the energy band gapobtained is 3.93 eV, using the UV-Vis absorbance curve
