Abstract
In order to evaluate the effects of plant density and bed type on Saffron (Crocus sativus L.) criteriaan experiment was conductedbased on factorial with RCBD arrangement and 3 replications in cropping years of 2010 and 2011 at the KhorasanScience and Technology Park. Treatments were plant density with 3 levels including 50, 100, and 150 plants /m2 and planting beds with 5 levels including control, animal manure at the rate of 30 t / ha,,mushrum bed residueswith 20 t/ha,municipal waste compost 10 t/ha, and wheat straw 10 t/ha. Results showed that by increasing corm density, flower no., fresh and dry weight of flowers, fresh and dry weight of stigmaand fresh weight of style were increased significantlywith 150 corms / m2 and straw bed.The highest amount of fresh weight of stigma, and fresh weight of style were observed. Highest rate of flowers/ m2, stigma weight + fresh style and dry weight of stigma obtained from straw bed and animal manure. In the second year wheat straw bed with 150 corms / m2produced highest (9.85 kg / ha) stigma yield compared with 6.8 kg / ha with 50 corms / m2wich was considered as control
