A high number of people suffer from addiction in Afghanistan. The aim of the current study was to compare the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Life Enhancement and Advancement Program (LEAP) on the decrements of drug use temptation among in-treatment drug abusers in Afghanistan. 36 addicted male individuals assigned into two experimental groups and a control group. A drug temptation questionnaire was administered to assess craving to drug use before and after intervention. The LEAP and the CBT groups received 6 ninety minutes long intervention sessions. The control group received nothing. Results indicated that both types of interventions could reduce temptations for substance use. However, there was no difference between the effectiveness of the two types of intervention.
