Abstract
Liquid-phase alkylation of benzene with 1-decene for the production of linear alkylbenzene (LAB) was investigated with silica-supported Preyssler heteropoly acid as the catalyst. Catalyst loading, Bz/C10 molar ratio, and catalyst weight percentage were investigated. Catalyst with 30% loading, Bz/C10 molar ratio of 17, and catalyst weight percentage of 2.6 showed 1-decene conversion of 100% and 2-phenyl decane selectivity of 27.2% at 80◦C and 2-hr reaction.
