Abstract
Chemical reactive gas flows simulated by the DSMC method are procedures that lead to the conversion of macroscopic chemical rate equations to microscopic reaction cross-sections. The newly proposed collision scheme of Simplified Bernoulli Trials (SBT) has been widely applied to non-reactive gas models. The aim of the current study is to assess the capability of the SBT collision scheme combined with the Transient Adaptive Subcell (TAS) in reactive-flow simulations. The total collision energy model (TCE) is applied to calculate the reaction probabilities for dissociation, exchange and recombination reactions of Air species. The SBT-TAS model is applied to a typical Hypersonic atmospheric entry problem, proposed by Bird and the results are compared with the corresponding results of the Nearest Neighbor collision scheme.
