Having a comprehensive knowledge of the source and target language on the part of translators has long been esteemed as a fundamental prerequisite within translation studies. Yet, this field seems to overlook the strategic applications of other related territories. Thus, the current study particularly sought to adopt an interdisciplinary approach and investigate the quality of forward and backward translation performance based on a pair of complementary viewpoints. From the intelligence-based view, the likely influence of Narrative Intelligence (NI) alongside with Verbal Intelligence (VI) was probed. From the linguistic-based view, L1 and L2 proficiency levels of the translators were taken into consideration to eventually conclude whether NI, VI or L1/L2 proficiency can predict the improved quality of translated texts in both directions. In so doing, 231 university students were selected to complete a set of scales and tests. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was utilized to evaluate the correlational amount between the targeted variables. Analysing the data it was found that, NI, VI, and L1/L2 proficiency, significantly, however differently, correlate with the quality of translated texts. In the end, the results were discussed and implications were provided in the context of translation studies.
