Abstract
A DC/DC booster circuit known as power management system (PMS) was fabricated and tested for use with microbial fuel cell (MFC) to increase the output voltage (400-500 mV) to approximately 3V. This circuit relies on an oscillator circuit, a self inductor, and a capacitor. The results indicated that in cases where the frequncy of oscillator circuit is low, the capacitor is charged to higher voltage using higher inductance. Under high frequncies, lower inductance is required and the output voltage of PMS is less. As a result, higher capacitors and inductance boost voltage to higher values, as long as the frequency is low.
