Abstract
There has been rapid progress in exploring microorganisms for green synthesis of nanoparticles[1] . Some microorganisms have potential to synthesize silver nanoparticles of various size, shape and morphology. In this study, we report synthesis of silver nanoparticles by a luminescent bacterium Vibrio fischeri NRRL B-11177. On treating the test vibrio with 1mM AgNO3, it was found to have the ability to form silver nanoparticles within 3 days in shaking incubator[2] . Moreover, the optimization of process conditions with respect to temperature and speed of incubation, pH of silver salt was carried out for high synthesis of silver nanoparticles by the test strain [1] Silver nanoparticles synthesis is confirmed by visual observation of reaction mixture color change and UV-Vis spectroscopy. An absorption peak was observed at 450 nm and is an indication of formation of silver nanoparticles. Therefore, the current study is a demonstration of an efficient synthesis of stable silver nanoparticles by a Vibrio strain.
