Abstract
In this in vitro gas production technique study were conducted to study the effects of dietary addition of herbal plant powder combinations on gas production. A mixture of herbs (garlic, eucalyptus, cinnamon, thyme and peppermint) ratios were prepared and in order to determine the best mix concentration plants. At the experiment, HPM concentrations were 2, 4 and 6% dry matter of concentrate was used. In this study, HPM were incubated with substrate (200 mg, 40R:60C) and 30ml buffered rumen fluid for 2, 4,6,8,16,24,36,48,72 and 96 h. Three ruminally cannulated dairy cow were used as donors of ruminal fluid. The results of this study showed that the use of medicinal plants mixture significantly increased gas production from the fermentation part (P<0.01). Fractional rate constant of gas production was also significantly affected by treatments (P<0.01). This study suggested that the herbal plant mixture have the potential to affect fermentation efficiency
