Abstract
The current study concerns to the presentation and assessment of a new collision scheme, i.e., Generalized Bernoulli Trials (GBT) scheme, in the Direct Simulation of Mont Carlo (DSMC) method. Here, in the new collision scheme, Generalized Bernoulli Trial (GBT), we used a value of number of selected pairs (Nsel) smaller than (N-1), i.e. Nsel <(N-1), where N is the number of particles per cell. The collision frequency and accuracy of the solution is kept the same as the original collision models in the DSMC, i.e., Nearest Neighbor (NN) or SBT. Additionally, this method has less computational costs in comparison with the SBT model due to checking a smaller number of pairs for the collision. To assess the accuracy and effectiveness of the GBT scheme, the lid-driven cavity flow has been considered as the test case.
