Abstract

In the recent years, there is a growing trend of energy consumption all over the world, and we are facing an unquenchable demand for electricity. On the other hand, international growth in natural gas price and different restrictions on emitting greenhouse gases cause increase in expenses of fossil fuels power generation. As a result, renewable energy resources especially wind and solar energies are the best alternatives for power generation. The main disadvantage of wind and solar resources is their uncertainties. Cooperation of wind and solar systems could help to overcome this problem and have a more reliable network. In this paper, uncertainty model of a sample system (consist of photovoltaic panels, wind turbines and battery) is drawn out by probability and statistics calculations. Furthermore, a standalone microgrid is organized and designed with respect to the expected energy not supplied (EENS) and system cost indicators by using Monte Carlo method.
