Inequality of opportunity and its relationship with economic growth is a concept that has been less discussed in the previous studies. This study attempts to investigate the effects of inequality of opportunity index on economic growth in 15 developing and 15 developed countries during 1995-2015. Using the mean group (MG) estimator within the framework of panel data and creating a new index for opportunity inequality are some contributions of current study. Furthermore, the effects of opportunity inequality and its sub-indices on per capita GDP are compared with the results of the model when economic growth is dependent variable. The results show that the effects of inequality of opportunities and its sub-indices on economic growth and per capita GDP are different between developed and developing countries.
