The maximum entropy approach for estimating the probability density functions has been widely used in many research areas, particularly in economics. In economics and the social sciences, approximating income distribution and Lorenz curve with regard to income inequality in society is of interest. In this paper, we review the use of entropy maximization with some inequality measures constraints in estimating income distribution and Lorenz curve. Next, we approximate Lorenz curve by maximizing Tsallis entropy of income share function subject to a given generalized Gini index.
