Three useful properties for describing pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) are include: tack, peel and shear strength. Cross-linking of PSA is one of the key techniques to control balance between cohesive and adhesive strength of the obtained polymer. Effect of cross-linkers such as melamine formaldehyde (MF) and MF/UF (urea formaldehyde) mixture concentration on the adhesive were investigated. Increasing MF concentration (up to 2.65 w%) affected on peel strength and shear strength (from 0.23 N/mm to 0.16 N/mm and from 230 kPa to 155 kPa respectively), however, tack of the latex was varied (from 1 cm to 3.8 cm). While, using mixture of MF/UF improved all of the three investigated parameters. The mixed cross-linker significantly affected on shear strength (from 230 kPa to 550 kPa), peel strength represents a maximum value in the 0.6 w% of the mixture and its tack was increased (from 3.18 cm into 1.6 cm).
