Abstract
Biomass feedstock is a renewable source of carbon which is emerged as a focus of interest for becoming an appropriate alternative of fossil fuels. The produced synthesis gas (syngas) from gasification of biomass can be converted to a wide range of liquid hydrocarbons with Fischer-Tropsch (FT) technology. Hybrid process of natural gas and biomass to liquid (GBtL) with capacity of 2000 bbl/day is simulated. The results show that the GBtL system can enhance the carbon conversion of the standalone BtL plant up to 10%. The mass ratio between natural gas and biomass feeds to the process is about 4.5. This is to control the syngas quality to the FT reactor. The techno-economic calculations revealed that the proposed integrated system has enough heating energy suppliers, but the electricity demand is +13 MW The annual profit for this plant is around 4 M$.
