Abstract
The efficiency of the adsorption process was evaluated with biogenic zinc oxide nanoparticles to decolourization of Congo Red (CR) as a model of azo dyes. The influence of various factors including pH, adsorbent dosage, and temperature was investigated. The results showed that the maximum amount of absorption occurs after 120 minutes. The optimum pH was detected to be 3 for ZnNPs. By increasing contact time and biosorbent dosage, removal of CR increased. The preliminary results demonstrated that ZnO biological nanoparticles can be used as an efficient adsorbent for removing azo dyes.
