Abstract

Nowadays, using electromagnetic wave generators in the workplace and their effects on the organs have attracted much attention from researchers due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and changing the training methods in all sections virtually at home. The impact of these waves on any part of the testis, due to the relationship between the testis and the reproductive system, causes damage to the testicular tissue, leading to disruption in the reproductive system. For this study, 21 adult Wistar rats were prepared and randomly divided into three groups of seven each . The control and experimental groups of rats were exposed to 2100 MHz electromagnetic fields for 70 days at 0, 15, and 60 minutes. Rats were dissected after CO2 anesthesia, and 5-micron slices were prepared from their testicular tissue and stained by hematoxylin and eosin. Subsequently, seminiferous tubules, the total volume of the testis, and interstitial space were calculated using the Cavalier principle. The results were analyzed by SPSS software and one-way analysis of variance and Tukey post hoc test at a significance level of P<0.05. This study shows that the mean total volume of the testis, Seminiferous tubules, and interstitial space in the control and experimental groups have a significant difference (P<0.05). It seems that the effects of 2100 MHz electromagnetic field waves have a destructive role on testicular tissue. Moreover, this effect can have on testicular volume and possible adverse effects on the male reproductive system.
