Abstract

Recently, different modeling and predicting methods have been widely used to estimate the properties of concrete materials. Since cement-based mortar is considered as an important concrete adhesive, it is very useful to present an applicable and accurate model for predicting the properties of such mortar. In this study, the influence of the effective parameters on the compressive strength of cement-based mortar is investigated by using the Multi Expression Programming (MEP) method and then a relationship to predict the compressive strength is presented. For this purpose, results of an experimental study for different strength classes of 30 to 50 MPa, water to cement ratio of 0.25 to 0.5, sand to cement ratios of 2.5 to 3.0, and different ages of 3, 7, 14, 21, and 28 days were considered from the previous research and then MEP method was performed on them. Numerical evaluation of the derived relationship showed its acceptable accuracy. Therefore, the proposed model can be used to estimate the compressive strength of the cement mortar samples instead of or in conjunction with performing time-consuming and expensive laboratory work
