Abstract
Carbonaceous nanomaterials (CNs) with outstanding properties have demonstrated a wide diversity of size- dependent applications. Preparing homogeneous and narrow size distribution of monodispersed CNs is practi- cally laborious and time consuming. Hence, fast fractionation of polydispersed CNs into several monodispersed fractions is of great significance. The size fractionation of CNs could significantly reveal the buried properties that are commonly not observed in the bulk. This review highlights various effective size fractionation tech-niques of CNs by focusing on their shape and structure and providing the advantages and drawbacks of each technique. Various traditional and instrumental techniques of size fractionation of CNs are discussed. This classification suggests the selection of the best fractionation techniques based on scalability, time, applications and cost effectiveness, as well as the resolution of each technique.
