Background: Perfectionism as a unique tendency focused on intrapersonal aspects is a multidimensional structure and emphasizes the importance of brain cognitive processes in its perpetuation. The relationship between executive function components focused on higher cognitive brain activity and perfectionism in adults has received less attention. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between perfectionism and executive function in adults. Method: This research is a Practical and descriptive-correlational study. The statistical population of the present study included adults in Mashhad. 160 participants in this study were selected through available sampling method. Also the Hill Perfectionism Questionnaire and the Barkley Deficit in Executive Function Scale (BDEFS) were used. Findings: The results of Pearson correlation showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between perfectionism and deficit in self-regulation of emotion component (p <0.01). Conclusion: The findings of this study highlighted the need to design and present an intervention to promote emotional self-regulation in perfectionists and those who are at risk.
