Title : ( Synthesis of a novel siloxane-based crosslink agent )

Polydimethyl siloxane (PDMS) derivatives are widely used material to improve the mechanical and hydrophobicity properties of other components especially emulsion polymerization products. An oligomeric PDMS hydroxy terminated was used to synthesis a novel crosslinker. The synthesis was performed in tetrahydrofuran (THF) as a solvent by two steps reaction under an inert atmosphere. The chemical can have a multi-functional role in emulsion polymerization processes, for instance as crosslinker and even improve the stability of latex by its ended functional groups. The synthesis is characterized using FT-IR method.
