This study aimed to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and the academic motivation of female students in Mashhad. Among the students of Imam Reza International University, 100 students were selected as a sample using the available sampling method, who completed the demographic information form, Schering\\\'s emotional intelligence questionnaire, and Harter\\\'s academic motivation questionnaire. The current research was correlational and descriptive. Using SPSS software and the Pearson correlation method, evidence showed that there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and academic motivation in female students, but this positive relationship was not significant (P<0.05). Therefore, there was no direct relationship between emotional intelligence and academic motivation in female students. In conclusion, the mental and physical health of students should be considered by authorities and It is suggested that the students need to be more supported through education. For a better understanding of factors that affect students\\\' academic achievement, replication of this study in other countries and with a prospective design is highly suggested.
