Abstract

One of the metal forming process\\\'s main goals is to produce a perfect workpiece using minimum raw materials, costs, and tools. Cold drawing has found extensive application in various fields, including transportation, water, oil, heating systems, coolers, buildings, and medical devices, among the processes used to produce tubes. This study explores the prediction of hole geometry after cold drawing based on its initial geometry before the process. To this end, some holes were created on the tube, which was easier and with lower negative impacts. Two initial tube diameters with wide industrial applications (33, 42 mm) were considered. This study was aimed to produce circular holes with diameters of 6, 8, 12, 15, and 20 mm after the drawing process. The variation trend of the hole diameter was determined in the first series of the tests. In the second series, initial holes with specific geometries were converted into circular holes with predefined diameters. Studies indicated that the developed procedure could create circular holes with a 6 to 12 mm diameter at acceptable accuracy for the tube diameter of 33 mm.
