Abstract
Artificial dyes are among the most widely used chemical substances in industries. Alongside their numerous applications, the drawbacks and concerns regarding the pollution and harmful effects of dyes on the environment and living organisms cannot be overlooked. The utilization of bioremediation methods for the removal of azo dyes, which are considered as one of the most prevalent and toxic synthetic dyes used in major industries like textiles, has been a subject of scientific interest in recent years. The decolorization of Reactive Red 24 azo dye was investigated by two groups of bacteria (cold tolerant and mesophilic). Results showed that cold tolerant and mesophilic bacteria were able to decolorize 30 and 45 percent of RR24 (50 mg/L) during 7 days.
