Abstract
Degradation and recovery processes are multi-scale phenomena found in various physical, engineering, biological, and social systems. These processes signicantly impact the aging and overall reliability of the system. Hence, comprehending the interaction between these processes at the component level is crucial for evaluating system reliability. To address this, an approach based on the principle of maximum entropy is proposed. This approach aims to model and infer the degradation and recovery processes at the component level, and can be applied to both repairable and non-repairable systems. By incorporating the reliability block diagram, this approach enables the integration of network connectivity information and statistical moments to estimate the hazard or recovery rates of the degradation or recovery processes.
