Abstract

Proper part selection and optimization of operating parameters of multi-rotors systems in such a way to realize the system objectives and missions with best possible efficiency have long been major concerns to manufacturers of such systems. Investigating the principle parameters in detail and orchestrating them together, the present research presents a comprehensive model for calculation, analysis, and optimization of operating parameters of multirotor systems. To this end, first, fundamental concepts of the multirotor systems and subsystems were considered. Then, establishing a link between the two, details of the drone were investigated in full-throttle and hover-throttle states. An algorithm was coded in MATLAB and verified by means of experimental data from the part manufacturers (which represent the main reference for investigating multirotor systems) under various flight conditions. Therefore, this algorithm can be used to investigate, with high accuracy, all parameters affecting the performance of multi-rotor systems and clarify particular ambiguities prior to actual manufacturing or flight. Moreover, one can obtain the best configuration of parts considering the predefined mission for the drone as well as the working conditions.
