Abstract
The present study investigates Claudin-17 expres- sion in canine mammary carcinomas by means of immuno- histochemistry and its relationships with histologic grades, overall survival and tumour recurrence. Our results show that Claudin-17 expression is reduced significantly in canine mammary carcinomas compared with normal canine mamma- ry tissues. High histologic grade and shorter overall survival have been shown to be significantly associated with Claudin- 17 reduced expression. Results of this study suggest a possible relationship between reduction of Claudin-17 and canine mammary carcinoma pathogenesis.
