Abstract

A system comprising n independent subsystems is considered, where each subsystem consists of d dependent components. The system is operational if and only if at least k out of the n subsystems are functioning. The Gumbel copula function is employed to model the dependency among the components within each subsystem. The system reliability is analytically evaluated, and graphical results are presented to illustrate the findings. The study demonstrates that ignoring dependency among components leads to significant bias in reliability estimation. Finally, key conclusions and implications are discussed.
