Abstract

Impact dampers in various forms are used to control the response of vibratory systems subjected to either forced or self-excitations. Reducing the amplitude of vibration of van der Pol oscillator using an impact damper is investigated in this paper. The Incremental Harmonic Balance (IHB) method is used to obtain analytical solution which is verified by numerical integration. .
