The antimicrobial activities of the essential oils of Iranian caraway Carum carvi were investigated against Escherichia coli ATCC 25992, Klebciella pneumonia ATCC 13883, Proteus vulgaris ATCC 13315, and Pseudomonas aeroginosa ATCC 27853 . The antimicrobial activity of the essential oils were evaluated by disc diffusion method . The results showed that the essential oil of Carum carvi inhibited the growth of E. coli and K. pneumonia. Furthermore, the study suggests that these essential oils can be used considered in the food preservations .
