Abstract

The major aim of this study was to design and validate a competency test measuring English language teachers` knowledge for the purpose of teaching in language institutes. To this end, initially based on the guidelines laid down by eminent scholars in the field of second language teaching, a test was designed. The test was then administered among 103 EFL teachers in language institutes. And finally, Rasch measurement was utilized to substantiate the construct validity of the test. The results of the Rasch analysis exhibited that all of the items met the criteria for fit to the Rasch
