Abstract
The nanocrystalline samples of La0.85Bi0.15MnO3 compound, prepared by mechanical activation, were studied by means of X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, resistivity and magnetoresistance measurements. The results show that the nanoparticles of the compound with the average particle size of about 30 nm and with an orthorhombic symmetry (S.G. Pnma) is formed after 14 h of high-energy ball milling process using a ball to charge weight ratio of 10:1. A metal-insulator transition is observed at 98 K, and the maximum magnetoresistivity is 18% in the magnetic field of 1.5 T.
