Abstract

The use of magnetic materials in solid phase extraction has attracted considerable attention due to their unique characteristics. The response of the magnetic adsorbents in an external magnetic field provides the condition to overcome problems such as column packing and phase separation. Of all the magnetic materials, magnetite is environmentally safe, inexpensive and chemically stable once formed [1]. Here, we report a well-defined protocol to impart magnetic activity through formation of magnetite within the pores of an anion exchanger resin. The performance of prepared adsorbent has been also evaluated in the removal of p-toluenesulfonic acid (TSA) from aqueous solution.
