Abstract

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of using caffeine and trans-Cinnamaldehyde (TC) on performance and carcass characteristics in male broilers chicks under stresses induced by dexamethasone. Materials and Methods: This experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with 200 of broiler (Ross-308) in 4 treatments and 5 replicate (with 10 hens in each replicate) from 1 to 42 days and included: 1) control group without any additives, 2) 0.5% caffeine powder 3) 1% TC 4) 0.5% caffeine powder + 1% TC. At 42 day of the experiment, three birds with close to the average body weight (±5 gram) from each replicate of treatments were slaughtered at day 42 for carcass characteristics. Based on the remaining birds and feed at the end of 42d, adjusted BWG, FI and FCR measured. All data were analyzed by the analysis of variance option GLM of SAS/STAT software and when treatment means were significant (P < 0.05), Tukey’s multiple range tests was used to compare means. Results and Conclusion: The result of this research showed that treatment 4 had significantly had higher FI in 0-42d. Although treatment 3 significantly had higher FCR as compare with the other treats. Treatments had no effects on DWG during the whole periods of experiments. Moreover, treatment had no significant differences on carcass characteristic in 42d of experiment. Based on the data from this experiment, it was concluded that there 1% of TC improved performance, also caffeine and TC had no significant effect on carcass characteristic in 42d.
