Abstract
Oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) plays important role in electrochemical devices such as fuel cells, metal-air batteries and advanced chlor-alkali cells [1]. Currently due to sluggish kinetics of ORR, huge amount of study for achievement of active and durable electrocatalyst were done [2]. During last decade graphene based electrocatalyst demonstrated remarkable performance toward ORR [2]. In synthesis of graphene based electrocatalyst, caustic maybe used as controlling pH or treatment agent. In present study the effect of caustic on structure and performance of reduced graphene oxide was investigated with the aim of Raman, FTIR, XRD and voltammetry techniques. The results revealed that caustic treatment introduced defects in graphene plane and these defects play as active sites to promote ORR activity.
